Sewer Installation in Honolulu
New Sewer Line Connections & Full Replacements for Oahu Properties
Installing a sewer line isn’t a repair call. It’s a construction project with permitting requirements, inspection schedules, and decisions about method that affect your property for decades. Pipe Masters has handled sewer installation in Honolulu for homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients since 2008, bringing over 30 years of combined plumbing experience to every project. We work with multi-unit buildings, industrial facilities, and historic properties, and we manage the full process from initial evaluation through final inspection.

Trenchless & Traditional Installation Methods
The right installation method depends on what’s already in the ground, how the property is configured, and what the work needs to achieve. We offer both trenchless and open-cut options so we can match the approach to your specific situation.
Before any installation work begins, our team uses electronic leak detection tools, including infrared imaging and acoustic sensors, to map what’s in the ground. That step helps prevent surprises once work starts.
Trenchless installation accesses the sewer lateral line at only a couple of entry points rather than opening a trench along the full run. This can protect landscaping, hardscaping, and structures above the line. We use three trenchless methods:
- Pipe bursting: A bursting head fractures the existing pipe outward while pulling new piping in behind it. No full trench is required, and the new pipe seats in the same path.
- Pipe lining: We use the MaxLiner system, a pipe lining method relied on internationally for more than two decades, to install a durable liner inside an existing pipe and create a structurally sound new flow surface.
- Pipe coating: A protective coating applied to the interior of a pipe that restores the flow path and seals against corrosion, suited for conditions where full replacement isn’t required.
When site conditions call for it, we also perform traditional open-cut trenching. Some installations, particularly new connections on undeveloped lots or lines running through complex soil conditions, are better served by direct access. We can walk you through the tradeoffs before work begins.
Honolulu Sewer Connection Permits: What You Need to Know
Connecting or reconnecting to a public sewer line in Honolulu requires a permit from the City and County of Honolulu before work can begin. Under the city’s sewer use ordinance, the property owner is responsible for maintaining the sewer lateral line from the building to the property line edge. We handle all permitting and documentation directly with the Department of Planning and Permitting, coordinating inspections and approvals so you don’t have to navigate that process yourself.
Hawaii’s building codes, salt air corrosion, and aging infrastructure each factor into how we plan an installation. A sewer line designed without accounting for these conditions may not perform the way it should. Our familiarity with local requirements can mean fewer delays and no paperwork surprises at inspection.
The Credentials Behind the Work
Our team includes Master Plumbers, a designation held by only a few plumbing professionals on Oahu. That credential reflects the technical standard we apply to every installation. We back that standard with a warranty covering our work and maintain strong ratings across Yelp, Google, and the Better Business Bureau. When you hire us for a sewer installation project in Honolulu, you’re working with a team that knows the island, knows the code, and has done this work for more than 15 years.
